Scrappy's Homemade Macaroni and Cheese
3 c. Elbow Macaroni
9 tbs. Butter
6 tbs. Flour
4 c. Milk
Pinch of Nutmeg
2 c. Monterey Jack Cheese (grated)
2 c. Cheddar Cheese (grated)
2 c. Mozzarella Cheese (grated)
6 slices of Sourdough Bread
Preheat oven to 375
Add elbow noodles to boiling water. Cook according to directions on package, minus by 5 minutes. Drain.
Melt 6 tbs. butter is large saucepan, whisk in the flour to make your roux. Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly. Cook sauce until it thickens.
Stir in grated cheeses until all the cheese melts.
Stir macaroni into the cheese sauce.
Place macaroni into 9x13 baking dish.
Pull apart bread into crumbs. (I do not use the crust) This is what I use Super for :)
Melt the remaining butter and pour over breadcrumbs. Place breadcrumbs over macaroni.
Put in the oven for about 20 min. (until bread looks light brown and crispy.)
My kids love this so much they got ahold of it before I could even take a picture! So, here is a picture of the half-gone macaroni :)
